Perak Legal Aid Centre together with the Bar Council's MyConsti committee will be organising a "MyConsti Campaign" at an Orang Asli Village, the details of which is as follows:-
Date : 04.09.2010 (Saturday)
Venue : Kampong Batu 14, (Old Tapah Road leading to Cameron Highland).
Time : 10 a.m - 3 p.m.
Rendezvous : Tapah Toll exit between 9.00 - 9.30 a.m.
Kampong Batu 14 is a small Semai village of 300 people. The Tok Batin has offered the use of the village's Church for the MyConsti programme.
Members who wish to participate in this event are requested to contact M. G. Ram at 05 2550523 for confirm their attendance.

AT THE PERAK BAR SECRETARIAT
A talk by Associate Professor Talat Mahmod of University Malaya will be held on 24.9.2010 at the Perak Bar Secretariat at 3.00 p.m.
This talk will broadly concern the following topics:-

These topics would naturally revolve around the recent Federal Court decisions in PP v Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim [2010] 4 CLJ 331 and Shamim Reza Abdul Samad v PP [2009]6 CLJ 93.
As with the talk held on 26.5. 2010, this topic is selected on the primary basis of their relevance to practitioners especially our members litigating Criminal matters.

PERAK-PENANG BAR GAMES "Est. 1964" FINAL REPORT
Dear Members,
As many of you might have already heard, Perak Bar won the annual games between the 2 bars this year. It was a hard fought victory in which the members of the Perak Bar acquitted themselves well...
The overall tie ended 7-4 in Perak Bars favour with the Perak Bar winning Football, Tennis, Basketball, Snooker, Hockey and Darts whilst the Penang Bar won Badminton, Netball, Volleyball and Bowling. Futsal and cricket were tied.
The Dinner was held at the Neptune Room at the Ipoh Swimming club where the attendees had a blast drinking and eating. Laughter/ was heard throughout the room where foes on the pitch became friends over food and drinks. Gifts were exchanged and the celebratory cake went down well with the members of both Perak and Penang bars.
Both the respective state bar chairmen called for the continuation of the games and its tradition and to keep on going with the annual games which had become the envy of many other state bars.
The Perak Bar wishes to extend their greatest appreciation to all those members who have participated and sponsored in one way or another.
This year it is the 46th year of the games. We will be there for the 47th in Penang. Will you be there to join us? Yes you can!

Perak-Penang Bar Games "est. 1964" - Day 1
The Perak Contingent took a slim lead of 2 1/2 - 1/2 on the first day of the annual games.
The Perak bar started the night with a hard fought 1-0 win in Hockey.
The Penang contingent then put themselves on the board in the futsal where the game played out in a very fast paced 3-3 draw.
Perak snooker players then won their matches 5-3 to take the overall score to 2 1/2 - 1/2.
So far a good night for the Perak Bar team. Let's continue winning tomorrow!
For the rest of you who are not directly involved in the games. Come on over and support the team!
Remember that there is also a fruit fest (durians etc...) At about 5pm at the MBI Sports Complex.

The time is upon us again to dust off the racquets, boots and sports wear and don them for the 46th edition of the Perak-Penang Bar Games beginning this Friday 6/8/2010.
Members are encouraged to participate both as players as well as cheer squads this coming weekend. The players need your support.
