Request for Feedback on Rules of Court 2012

The Bar Council has set up a dedicated email address (rules2012@malaysianbar.org.my) so that Members will have an avenue to provide feedback with respect to the manner in which the courts are implementing or misapplying the Rules of Court 2012.

In this regard, the Bar Council has worked closely with the Judiciary and the Attorney General’s Chambers in resolving problems that have surfaced prior to and since the implementation of the Rules of Court 2012. The Bar Council’s efforts are ongoing as there are still some issues that have yet to be resolved.

We invite Members to provide feedback on the Rules of Court 2012 and the Court Forms since implementation.

In particular, it is imperative that Members inform the Bar Council of any errors or omissions in the Rules of Court 2012 that they are aware of, so that recommendations may be made for these to be addressed and corrected expeditiously. Members are urged to provide their suggestions regarding how the errors or omissions can be remedied.

World Women's Day on 07th April 2012

In conjunction with World Women Day 2012 organized by the Jawatankuasa Industri Pelaburan, Pembangunan Usahawan, Pelancongan Dan Hal Ehwal Wanita, Perak Bar was given the honor to present a paper wherein two speakers will be presenting on topics relating to women to the public. The suggested topics are as such :
(a) Matrimonial violence against women;

(b) Single mothers and their plight & children; and

(c) Battered women.

We wish to annouce the launching of  Legal Aid Clinic at Sungei Siput, details of which are as follows:-
 
Date:     18th. February 2012 (Saturday)

             Sungei Siput (U),

The idea of setting this Clinic came about following requests from several NGOs who are serving the hard-core poor communities in the rural areas and surrounding estates in Sungei Siput.
The clinic will be manned by volunteers and pupils and shall initially operate on a bi-monthly basis, subject to public demand.

Change of Bar Council Malaysia's Phone Numbers

Dear Members,

Please be informed that Bar Council Malaysia’s new general number is 03-2050 2050, effective immediately. The old hunting line (03-2031 3003) will be phased out tomorrow (13 July 2011).  The fax numbers remain unchanged.

The new telephone system includes features such as multi-level auto attendant, voicemail, call forwarding and call recording, which will enable callers to reach specific departments more easily.

The recording of all incoming and outgoing calls will allow staff performance to be monitored for quality assurance and training purposes.
