Pursuant to the above, an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Perak Bar will be held on the 9th of January 2009. Details of the EGM are as follows:

Time:3.00p.m
Venue:Royal Ipoh Club
Ipoh, Perak.
The object of the EGM is to discuss matters pertaining to the surrendering of the current Lower Court Bar Room to the court and relocating same and the Legal Aid Centre to a new venue.
Untuk mengatasi masalah ruang simpanan Rekod-Rekod Rayuan di Mahkamah Rayuan, amalan berikut hendakiah diikuti bagi pemfailan Rekod-Rekod Rayuan di Mahkamah Rayuan:
1) Dalam perkara-perkara sivil sahaja-
(a) Apabla tiba masanya bagi Perayu/Peguam Perayu untuk memfailkan Rekod Rayuan kepada Mahkamah Rayuan mengikut peruntukan di bawah Kaedah-Kaedah 18 Kaedah-Kaedah Mahkamah Rayuan 1994, Perayu/Peguam Perayu dikehendaki memfailkan di Pejabat Pendaftaran Mahkamah Rayuan, 1 (satu) salinan Rekod Rayuan sahaja dahulu;
(b) baki salinan Rekod Rayuan seterusnya hendaklah difailkan oleh Perayu/Peguam Perayu 3 (tiga) hari slepas menerima notis perbicaraan melalui faks daripada Pejabat Pendaftaran Mahkamah Rayuan untuk Rayuan berkenaan.
2) Arahan Amalan Mahkamah Rayuan Bil 2 Tahun 2008 yang mengandungi peruntukkan mengenai helaian jilid dalam Rekod Rayuan [BAHAGIAN 11(1) (b dan BAHAGIAN 111 (2) (d)] adalah dengan ini di pinda. Jumlah helaian Rekod Rayuan bagi setiap Jilid hendaklah tidak melebihi 100 helaian sejiiid.
3) Arahan Amalan ini adaiah berkuatkuasa untuk Rekod Rayuan yang difailkan pada
1 Januari 2009.

Kindly be informed that the Islamic Finance Committee( IFC) has agreed to hold a symposium on Islamic Banking and Finance in the northern, southern and eastern regions beginning January 2009 until March 2009. The purpose of holding the symposium is to introduce to our members the basic concepts and principles of Islamic Banking & Finance and to highlight recent decisions in this area.
The symposium will be held in the following regions and the tentative dates are :
North – Butterworth (mid January 2009)
Central – Kuala Lumpur/ Seremban (early February 2009)
South – Johor Bahru (end February 2009)
East – Kuala Lumpur (early March 2009)
The organisers are hoping that the Deputy Governor of Bank Malaysia, Dato’ Mohd Razif bin Abdul Kadir will give the keynote address followed by talks on Islamic Banking & Finance by some prominent speakers.
This symposium is a one-day programme starting at 8.00a.m until 5.00p.m .In the morning session after the keynote address there will be presentation by a prominent speaker.The afternoon session will be conducted by Encik Mohamed Ridza Mohamed Abdulla from Messrs Mohamed Ridza & Co and Encik Lukman S Alias from Messrs Zul Rafique & Partners who will discuss on common issues and legal documents of Islamic Banking & Finance.
Please be informed that the abovestated courses are now available and will be held by Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) locally in Ipoh in December 2008.
