Course Preview

The Syariah Laws Committee (SLC) approached the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) enquiring whether they can organize the following courses in Ipoh:-

Diploma in Syariah Law & Practice

Diploma in Law and Administration of Islamic Judiciary and

Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance

At the time of enquiry, the above courses were only conducted in Kuala Lumpur.

The first course is a pre requirement for any Muslim Advocate and Solicitor who is interested to practice at the Syariah Courts, whilst the third course is now preferred by Banks of Advocates and Solicitors to be empanelled as their Syariah banking lawyers or to be able to continue in the preparation of their Islamic banking documents.

The IIUM has indicated their interest to conduct the course in Ipoh and are considering same.

Wawacana Ilmu

In conjunction with and to commemorate the 81^st Birthday Celebrations of the

DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, the above two days programme was organized by IKIM, INTIM with the cooperation and support of the State Government of Perak, of which were also invited to participate.

Several eminent and distinguished guests and speakers presented and discussed papers. Some of the topics were:-

Zakat

A zakat giving ceremony was coorganised by the SLC with the cooperation of Bank Persatuan Berhad whereby zakat of about RM5000.00 were given to the needy and students during the month of Ramadan, 2009 just a few days to the auspicious Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

It sure did brought relief, cheers and smiles to the recipients.

Maal Hijraah Conference

The SLC of the Bar Council together with the SLCs’ of the State Bars is organizing a Conference. The said Conference was initially fixed on 19.12.2009 in Kuala Terengganu. Unfortunately due to several factors especially the weather conditions, it had to be deferred.

A new date is to be fixed and announced later.

I take this opportunity to thank all those and all who have assisted in the above programmes and activities of SLC.

COURSE PREVIEW: DIPLOMA IN SHARIAH LAW & DIPLOMA IN LAW AND ADMINISTRATION OF ISLAMIC JUDICIARY

We wish to inform that Kolej TAJ is organising a special course preview to be presented by the Assistant Professor Dr Hj. Azmi bin Hj Harun, Director Of the Harun M Hashim Law Centre, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

ONE DAY SYMPOSIUM ON ISLAMIC BANKING AND FINANCE

Kindly be informed that the Islamic Finance Committee( IFC) has agreed to hold a symposium on Islamic Banking and Finance in the northern, southern and eastern regions beginning January 2009 until March 2009. The purpose of holding the symposium is to introduce to our members the basic concepts and principles of Islamic Banking & Finance and to highlight recent decisions in this area.

The symposium will be held in the following regions and the tentative dates are :

North – Butterworth (mid January 2009)

Central – Kuala Lumpur/ Seremban (early February 2009)

South – Johor Bahru (end February 2009)

East – Kuala Lumpur (early March 2009)

The organisers are hoping that the Deputy Governor of Bank Malaysia, Dato’ Mohd Razif bin Abdul Kadir will give the keynote address followed by talks on Islamic Banking & Finance by some prominent speakers.

This symposium is a one-day programme starting at 8.00a.m until 5.00p.m .In the morning session after the keynote address there will be presentation by a prominent speaker.The afternoon session will be conducted by Encik Mohamed Ridza Mohamed Abdulla from Messrs Mohamed Ridza & Co and Encik Lukman S Alias from Messrs Zul Rafique & Partners who will discuss on common issues and legal documents of Islamic Banking & Finance.

KETAHUI HAK ANDA: HAK WANITA DALAM PERUNDANGAN ISLAM

To All the Members of the Perak Bar

Sister of Islam(SIS) dengan kerjasama Ybhg Dato’ Hajjah Shamsuriah akan menganjurkan Forum “ Ketahui Hak Anda : Hak Wanita Dalam Perundangan Islam “ pada 30hb Ogos 2008.

Forum tersebut akan membincangkan tentang hak-hak wanita dalam Islam seta mengenai prosedur – prosedur Mahkamah Syariah..

Adalah diharap forum ini dapat meningkatkan dan memperkuatkan pengetahuan wanita berkenaan Hak-Hak wanita dalam Islam dan mengenai undang-undang Syariah di Malaysia terutamanya dalam isu perceraian, tuntutan nafkah, poligami, pembahagian harta, seperti faraid, wasiat, hibah,harta sepencarian wang peningglan KWSP dan lain – lain.

Dalam forum tersebut juga, kita akan sama-sama meninjau persoalan-persoalan yang seringkali bermain di fikiran wanita Islam seperti:

1. Adakah orang Islam dibenarkan meninggalkan wasiat?
2. Bagaimanakah pembahagian harta sekiranya suami meninggal dunia terutama jika tiada anak lelaki?
3. Kalau suami mahu berkahwin lagi adakah si isteri wajib membenarkanya?
4. Apakah hak isteri yang tidak bekerja terhadap harta sepencarian?
5. Apakah yang boleh dilakukan jika dipukul atau didera oleh suami?
6. Apakah yang dapat dilakukan sekiranya suami tidak memberikan kerjasama dalam urusan perceraian, nafkah dan sebagainya. Bagaimanakah mendapatkan khidmat peguam dan apakah tanggugjawab peguam?
dan banyak lagi.

Objektif forum tersebut diadakan adalah bagi:-

Meningkatkan kefahaman mengenai hak-hak wanita dalam Islam , khususnya dalam hal tuntutan nafkah, perceraian, isu poligami, pembahagian harta dan sebagainya.
Memberi kesedaran tentang hak-hak wanita dalam undang-undang Syariah di Malaysia.
Menyediakan platform untuk wanita-wanita bertemu dan berkongsi pengalaman antara satu sama lain.
Membincangkan bagaimana kaedah wanita bersama-sama dapat membantu rakan-rakan yang mengalami masalah.
